One of the most fulfilling things in the work we do in the Philippines is the ripple effect of changed lives. When we moved to the Philippines more than 30 years ago, and were holding Bible study in one of the jails, a young man named Ruben came to Christ. His life was radically changed! He was released after serving 8 years for attempted murder and shared his desire to serve with us in full-time ministry. Today Pastor Ruben has congregations both inside and outside the local jails.
Pastor Ruben, his wife, children and grandchildren all live and serve together by opening up their home to ex-inmates and their families. We had the privilege of giving out school and hygiene supplies to the children of these inmates. They were so appreciative! We are so grateful for your support that gives us opportunities to reach those with the biggest need.
Pastor Ruben lives in a very simple house constructed literally at the edge of the mangroves in Mactan Island. Together with the ex-inmates, they built a small structure for them to meet as a church next to their house. It's very simple-- metal roof, no air conditioning and just a few fans, in the hot humid climate of the tropics.
Pastor Ruben expressed that they hope to add a ceiling and some ceiling fans in their church to make it more bearable during the hot summer months. They need at least $2,500. Thanks in advance for your generosity and please pray with us for more Pastor Rubens to rise up and give back. To have that ripple effect of changed lives.
