On September.30th at 10pm a devastating 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck Cebu. The epicenter and devastation was about a 3 hours drive from the city. Until now, families are unable to sleep in their home either because of damage or the trauma of frequent aftershocks. Within 24 hours, our staff were mobilizing aid to our partner churches in the area and assessing how we may be able to provide further assistance.
Through the generosity of our donors and our partnership with Samaritan's Purse and WorldHelp we were able to deliver much needed aid to over 3,500 families through relationships with over 50 local churches. As of this weekend we had been able to deliver hope in the form of:
Over and over we heard comments from those affected, many in tears, how they felt not forgotten and knew God was watching out for their needs through people like us. The local churches we worked through became a lighthouse in their communities by serving as our hub for distributions.
Please continue to pray for the people of Northern Cebu. The rebuilding phase will take months and we plan to come alongside our partner churches with that as well.
