Saralee and I arrived in Cebu 4 days ago and hit the ground running! Along with sourcing and purchasing the items needed for the relief, we’ve been gathering information as to the hardest hit areas, how many families affected, etc. We’re so grateful for your generosity and the partnership with Samaritan’s Purse to enable us to have a significant impact in responding to those affected by Typhoon Kalmaegi.
The first day we arrived, Saralee was approached by the principal of the school where our office and church is located – she shared with us her concern for the trauma the students had experienced with the back-to-back disasters of the earthquake and then the typhoon.
This past Monday the students resumed regular classes, and Saralee was invited to lead trauma healing workshops for the entire student body. It was a great in-road for the gospel and future ministry for our church Quest Fellowship. For five hours last Monday, Saralee went classroom to classroom listening to students' experiences and sharing the Gospel.
We have been working with our staff and volunteers to pack and distribute relief kits that include food, hygiene items and household supplies that were lost in the floodwaters.
Impact at a Glance
📦 7,100 relief kits already distributed to families in need
🔜 4,400 more kits being prepared for delivery
🚰 Provided over 4,000 liters of fresh drinking water
During the recent earthquake, Samaritan's Purse deployed a water filtration system that can provide clean drinking water during times of disasters. This system will remain in the Philippines and is already the second time it has been put to use in two months!
We covet your prayers this time as the needs are endless. We are hoping to provide school supplies and backpacks for students who have been forced to return to school empty handed because of their loss.
If you are led to make a generous contribution we’ll make sure it gets to these families that are in desperate need. Thank you again for your prayers and financial support. Your investment goes a long way into bringing help and hope to those in crisis.
